2020 was tough. I was often close to losing it and breaking down. The stress of the pandemic, the company, and my family’s health and happiness certainly took a toll.
Since March, I've constantly been questioning: am I doing enough at work to find new clients? Am I a good enough dad to my two-year-old son and husband to my loving wife? All while worrying about the health and safety of all my loved ones.
I wanted to share because I know I am not alone. My story is not unique, but that doesn't mean it doesn't matter.
2020 stopped many of us from meeting most levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs: shelter, employment, sense of connection, and freedom.
Without our basic needs being met, self-actualization, the idea that we can be the best version of ourselves, seemed entirely out of reach.
Our purpose at Beacons Point is to empower people and improve the lives of others. We have always believed that if we can help others, provide value, empower others to grow, we will be successful.
True to that purpose and desire to become the best version of ourselves, we spent much of 2020 finding ways to empower others.
Here's what we created in 2020 to help you in 2021.
- Buyer Persona Starter Templates - Series of templates, resources, and guides to help you identify, interview, and build your buyer personas.
- Content Strategy Starter Kit - We all know how to write a blog, but how do you create a more effective strategy? Our starter kit has topic cluster worksheets, content planning templates, and video tutorials on how to create a content strategy.
- The B2B Growth Marketer Podcast - We had the opportunity to interview great minds in sales and marketing to discuss what works for their companies.
- Campfire Mastermind - We started a small group of like-minded marketing and sales professionals to come together to discuss our business challenges and help each other succeed.
The goal? To help you reach your self-actualization, to be the best you can be in 2021.
If I've learned anything from 2020, it's that you can't go it alone. You need support from loved ones, guidance from mentors, and resources to help you achieve your goals.
I certainly leaned on others to get through 2020 in one piece, and now I want to pay it forward. In 2021, let's be more patient, understanding, and kind.
We don't know what 2021 will bring. People you work with, friends, and even strangers may be going through rough times, and they may not always show it.
If an email is late, a call is not returned, or a deadline is missed, don't rush to blame or be angry. Perhaps ask how you can help. I promise to be better in 2021, and I hope you do as well.
With gratitude,
Alex Meade
